BOXED

22.000,00 €Preis

"A halo made of disco balls. Shine and wound at the same time."

BOXED is not an object. It is a situation.

The work emerged from collective overwhelm — when individual voices became a chorus. What began as personal betrayal unfolded, through conversations with other affected artists, into shared testimony. From “I” to “we.” From anger to echo.

From the outside, BOXED appears loud, almost playful. Colors, fragments, angels, eyes. A yellow ring floats — like a halo. But the halo is studded with golden pins whose heads resemble tiny disco balls. They reflect light, movement, bodies. Sacred aura meets club culture. Thorn crown meets nightlife.

Whoever steps inside stands beneath that ring. From the outside, it looks as if the person wears a halo — elevated, almost sanctified. Yet the pins remain sharp. Shine and wound coexist.

The transparent foil is not decorative. It is a membrane. It separates and reveals at once. You are meant to step in! You are meant to touch it. Push through it. Please enter. Material here becomes decision. Only through contact does the work activate.

Inside, space tightens. Breath becomes audible. Handwritten statements from other affected artists appear at eye and chest level. Not staged. Not dramatized. Witnessed.

BOXED only functions through bodies. High heels, boots, painted nails, handbags — the visitors themselves alter the work. From the outside, they perform it. From the inside, they experience it.

The ring may resemble a halo. But it may also expose projection:

Are you a saint? A martyr? A victim? Or simply human within a flawed system?

BOXED is a test.

Of curiosity.

Of integrity.

Of collective stance.

It marks a threshold:

from I to we,

from isolation to resonance,

from moral image to embodied truth.

BOXED is part of the upcoming exhibition BETROGENER TRAUM and belongs to AREA 03 — Construction.
